Shin Splints

Shin Splints suck… a lot… I really wanted to go running today, but I wasn’t able to because my shins are still aching from the last time. I did go for a long walk though.

I think I just fell in love

You might know that I currently use 2 monitors, and I couldn’t ever imagine going back to just one. I just found this new seamless tripple monitor (via Gizmodo) setup that has completely blown my mind.

Star Trek

I’ve been reading reports of Star Trek XI, and it has me thinking. There hasn’t been Star Trek on TV in a while, and I think the previous mold or having the story be about a ship out in space is a bit old. I believe that they should do a series about Starfleet Academy. I think it would be very interesting to see a military school show.

Taking this approach would change the nature of the Star Trek franchise, and I think it would draw a much bigger audience than traditional Sci-Fi fans. Writers could focus on the relationships between Cadets, Instructors and even miscellaneous faculty and family. This would draw audiences who enjoyed watching shows such as Felicity, or One Tree Hill. They really need to downplay the fact that Star Trek takes places in the future. I think that fact turns many people off simply because they’ve never really paid any attention to anything Sci-Fi. The potential for storylines are endless, a I would absolutely love to see a Star Trek Drama on TV.

I’m stuck on a glacier with McGuyver!

I’m going to miss this show

Lord of Chaos

Last night I finished Robert Jordan’s sixth book in The Wheel of Time series. Lord of Chaos seemed a bit slower than some of the previous books, but I was pleased with Perrin’s return to the storyline. I still can’t get over the depth Jordan creates in every single character. If you haven’t read any Robert Jordan I highly suggest you get The Eye of the World, you will be hooked.

I also purchased Book 7 yesterday, so today I started reading A Crown of Swords.

Painful Run

I’m back from my run for the day, but I didn’t last nearly as long as I have been. When I figure out how, I’ll be posting graphs of my workouts. I’ve been doing the Couch-to-5k Running Plan because I thought it sounded feasible for me. I’m actually repeating the first week because I’m starting from zero, so I figured I need to start slowly. Last night I decided to go for a run, and I had a great run for a full 30 minutes, while today, after 14 minutes or so, my shins started hurting so bad I could barely walk. I’m not sure why, but I guess I’ll have to skip running tomorrow to let my shins rest.
Edited: Ok I figured out how to post an image of the graph. As you can see, i had to turn around halfway through and walk back, then the sensor fell out of my shoe and stopped the workout.

Late Running

For some reason I enjoy running more when its dark out.  I’m about to head out and go running for 40 minutes.  Tomorrow I’m going to get the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit so I can keep track of my progress better as I continue to get in better shape.  I think it would be awesome if I knew some other people starting out in their running to compare progress.  Alright, enough procrastinating.
